Yes Catholics should pray fervently for the continued celibacy of its priesthood.
As a point of information, celibacy is a mandatory discipline only in the Latin Church. The Eastern Catholic Churches allow married men into the seminary but only after a lengthy examination of the marriage. My Maronite Catholic pastor's grandfather was a married priest; he, on the other hand, chose the celibate life.
