A woman with Downs did housekeeping and laundry at my house one day a week for a few years. She also had a permanent stand at the flea market where she sold needlepoint. One Christmas she did large last-name needle points for all my family members which I had framed and gave as presents. She also drove a car and had a boyfriend. Some of these Downs victims are very functional.

She drove a car? I did not think that was possible for a Downs to get a license. Please inform me more.

My grandson is Downs, he is 11 yrs, very very smart. He thinks he can do anything. Recently I let him drive the golf cart, with me sitting alongside to help if needed. He did very well. Then he told me "Now I can get my license". lol. I told my daughter, she said they did not know what they will do when he turned 16 as he would know he was old enough.

When he was about 5 yrs old, he was sitting with his father and brother at the table as they were cleaning their guns after a hunt. He had his play gun, cleaning it. Then he told his dad he wanted to go hunting too, dad said "When you get to be a big boy", he said "I am a big boy now", lol. They do have special hunts for these children in our state, he will participate

I can tell you and everyone that God truly blessed our lives with this Downs child, he is a delight and teachers say he is above the norm. We never treated him "Special", he is treated normally as any other child, expected to learn, behave, etc.
