Once one choses a side, that side defines you in some way.
IF Mr.Card does not wish to be judged at least in part by his faith then he should not write apologetic works for it.
I do agree that the person should not be the focus of the debate that would be ad homonym but their views and statements are fair and correct points of discussion and debate.
As a side note, JRRT, was an Atheist that converted due to the conversations with CSL.

I suppose I'm reacting due to things I've seen in the past, the vile letters to the editor, and the called in voicemails, printed in a column entitled "Sound Of The Beep" in The Rhino Times, that tear Orson Scott Card to shreds personally. Everything from his weight problems, to his political views to his science fiction books. Very personal. And, it's usually due, at heart, to his conservative politics, but they do drag religion into it.
