My two cents: Don't refer to him as "the Great." Sounds too grandiose. I don't think he would like that.

Better "John Paul II - the Beloved."

I agree.

While John Paul II prevented an unmitigated disaster that Vatican II might have become under a more liberal pope, and left his mark in many aspects of theology and praxis, the test of his greatness will be in the success of his chosen successor Pope Benedict XVI in restoring the orthodoxy in the Church. John Paul’s greatness will, therefore, be not entirely his alone.
