The only flaw in your statement is the assumption that because cults make such claims without authority, that NO ONE possesses that authority.

Hate to burst your bubble, but a policeman DOES have the authority to command obedience from you that would be kidnapping if anyone else did it. That doesn't make cops into kidnappers.
