SALT LAKE CITY -- Armed assailants attack and rob a Latter-day Saint Apostle, his wife and two other couples in the African nation of Mozambique. Elder Russell M. Nelson and his wife, Wendy, were on a Church assignment when the incident happened.

According to Church spokesman Scott Trotter, the wife of the mission President Blair Packard suffered a broken arm. She and others also have cuts and bruises.

Elder William and Sister Shanna Parmley of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency. Elder and Sister Nelson traveled to Mozambique for these weekend meetings with Church leaders there; Elder William and Sister Shanna Parmley of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency, and Pres. Blair and Sister Cindy Packard; he is the President of the Mozambique Maputo Mission.

The country is located in the southeastern part of the African continent on the Indian Ocean; Maputo is the Capitol.

Pres. Blair and Sister Cindy Packard; he is the President of the Mozambique Maputo Mission. The Church Statement says: "On Friday evening they were having dinner together in the mission president's home when armed assailants entered the home and robbed them. We don't have complete information yet, but we understand that Sister Packard's arm was broken. In addition, she and others suffered some superficial injuries, mainly cuts and bruises. Elder and Sister Nelson will continue their assignment over the weekend as planned."

The Church statement also includes information that authorities in that city are investigating the matter.

Former missionaries to Mozambique who we talked with Saturday tell us that they were warned to always be cautious and told about the dangers of life in that African nation.

The LDS would never do anything like that. Indeed they would perish the thoughts of even the natives having anything flashy, at least as flashy as their new Temple their fillings would pay for...

http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/portoalegre/

He emphasized the need to sacrifice for temple building and shared how members in Argentina found ways to donate during the construction of the São Paulo Brazil Temple. They gave the gold from their dental work to help pay for the temple. He said that he had purchased some of the gold fillings for more than the market price to share with congregations the nature of the sacrifice made by these members (Church News, 9 May 1998).

Did you think I was a Pentecostal?

I’m not. I do grieve for the person who was abused.

You’re hard to understand, OMM. I think you should stick
with kicking Baptists and Billy Graham (I have no connection
there either, but it’s at least familiar territory for you).

Best,

At least I didn’t spell it:

“Horseapple”.

In North Texas, the OO tree used to be used for the corner post on fence lines.

TOUGH, STRONG wood.,,,,,,,,,,,,,

You are right. It is creepy, and scary. I cannot believe that Freeplancer has not yet been banned, this kind of behavior towards a fellow FReeper is appalling and should not be tolerated.

Jimmy (his name is on his “about” page) constantly harasses others. Just because he feels the need to put out his name and hometown does not mean that all of us feel so comfortable. FR is not a “closed” site, anyone can read these posts. many of us enjoy the anonymity of FR, not because we have “something to hide” as Jimmy accuses us of (again on his “about” page) but for our own safety. Those who would oppose us politically should not be fed info of a personal nature.

Grey, I am sorry you have to be subject to stalking by a small minded little boy with nothing better to do than to spend time profiling your RL.

Matthew 5:10 - Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

I tell you what, when he gets elevated to “prophet” and “martyr” and we write hymns to the guy, give us a call...

I was under the impression that posting another’s personal information in order to compromise their screen name resulted in immediate banning.

If someone doesn’t mind sharing their own personal information, that’s their business. They have to deal with the consequences of their own actions. But to do something that could conceivably endanger someone else, is unconscionable. I don’t understand the mindset of someone who would think like that.

I guess there’s something wrong with a religion that doesn’t make a god out of him? Is that what I’m missing?

Perhaps times have changed. Not even a slap on the wrist in this case, evidently.

Interesting. This chaplain who was found guilty of *rape*, by everything the article said, didn’t go out and violently rape anyone. What he did was have affairs with them while he was married.

And this is a problem for a Mormon, why again?

All I could find was this, he did reveal your city though:

http://www.freerepublic.com/help.htm#guidelines

Don’t violate poster privacy - Don’t reveal online another poster’s phone number, address, or other information that the person hasn’t already made public for everyone on Free Republic. If you are asked for a friend’s email address, the best advice usually is to forward the request to the friend. He or she can then decide whether to respond.

I posted my own name and address soon after joining, it was immediately deleted and I was told not to do that.

Now, a lot of members know my name and where I live..... but not by public forum.

Tough wood....makes great "turner's" wood...Great bowyer's wood...and great fence posts too!!

Among other things the wood and the "apples" are used for..............

Best FRegards,

Actually, it is more there is something wrong with a religion that requires humility. To the LDS, humility is a weakness since they believe they are already “children of God” no matter what they do.

freeplancer Freeps no more.

Colofornian, in the future, when you have an article that will most likely turn into a contentious theological dispute - post it in the Religion Forum. Thank you.
