I did not notice ANY New England Archbishop speak out on the Notre Dame scandal.
There was a "re-organization" such that his archdiocese became just a diocese, and his title reverted to Bishop, and is no longer Archbishop. But he did speak out.
This is, of course, Most Reverend Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of Providence, and former Archbishop of Providence.
On the other side of the coin, Pennsylvania had at least one Bishop/Cardinal speak out from all of its Dioceses.
Even some conservative states cannot boast of that -- and this is a "Mid-Atlantic, Yankee state".
Massachusetts has its problems with politicans such as Senator Ted Kennedy, Senator John Kerry, and US House Rep Barney "Gay" Frank.
Finally, I assure you that Archbishop Chaput of Denver has problems, but he does not face the problems of Sean Cardinal O'Malley, and he strongly supports his brother Capuchin...
