The Forever Virgins Even before the Catholic Church had nuns, it had consecrated virgins. And, today, women like Kathy Reda are choosing and reviving this largely forgotten vocation. They're walking down the aisle and betrothing themselves to God.

With the way things are going for me, I’ll forever be a virgin.
Apparently turns you into a mean, vicious woman.

Those are nuns. These women aren’t nuns.
To each his own, I suppose.
My Bad! (still think they’re gonna get mean.)
Hehehe.
just more of the MSM fishing back into the 9th. century in order to find something that makes Catholics look like complete whackos to the great unwashed
I’ve been married for 23 years. My wife has turned me into a born-again virgin...
We have an acquaintance who leads a “consecrated life”. She doesn’t use the v-word, but it is the same set-up as in the article. She tried two different convents and they didn’t work out, but she is as committed to her vocation as when she was a nun. She has a spiritual director and a “rule” that she follows, sort of like she is in a religious order of only one person. She teaches at a local Catholic school, wears a very utilitarian jumper, and no make-up. She has a little bit of spacey peace about her. You can tell she is immersed in her prayer life.
somewhere I read a while ago about Episcopalians nuns being nuns because “they hadn’t received the higher calling yet” that being marriage which is a sacrament in the Catholic Church also. In my mind marriage is a state of life with a calling, too, and much more realistic.
I’m sorry to hear that.
“And the unmarried woman and the virgin thinketh on the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she that is married thinketh on the things of the world, how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your profit: not to cast a snare upon you; but for that which is decent, and which may give you power to attend upon the Lord, without impediment.” 1 Corinthians 7:34-35
if that is the case why not go for the “get into heaven free” card and be consecrated.
I have other things in mind.
