Odd that Panagia only talks that way to Western, Latin Rite Catholics and even then usually only to children. In Greece and Russia, she visits all sorts of people and so far as I have been told, doesn’t issue orders or threats or dire warnings or discuss theology with old ladies. She acts just as one might expect, as a friend and loving mother

Kinda fits the Western "do this and you'll go to hell" versus the Eastern "do this and you will be like God" phronema, doesn't it, K? In the West, the compelling element seems to be fear and intimidation; in the East, love and encouragement.

Sad that they use Panagia that way, to scare and threaten people. On the other hand, we do have Our Lady of Guadalupe who, while certainly speaking in a dramatic way, does offer a refuge and solace and not the Fatima, “Watch out, my Son is angry and I don’t know if I can hold Him back much longer” routine, so its not a totally lost cause.
