God Sees, God Cares!

"He (GOD) appointeth the number of THE STARS; He calleth them all by their names. GREAT IS OUR LORD, and of great power: His understanding is infinite" (Psalm 147:4-5).

There Really Is A God After All! He is an AWESOME GOD who finds His galaxies a very small expression of His great Person. God is beyond and bigger than His finite universe. Yet GOD CAN HEAR your cry, your whisper, your silent thought. GOD CAN SEE so small a tear: GOD CAN TACKLE so big a problem. "Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy" (Psalm 33:18).

Good post, save for one small/large matter. When you write, “There is a God after all”, I infer from that statement that you might believe there is a fair amount of evidence to indicate that God doesn’t exist. Then, at some very last-moment event, a tidbit of information popped up to change your mind, barely. Now, in fairness to you, from the rest of the text it seems apparent that isn’t what you had in mind, but that phrase was a distraction.

Nevertheless, you cite some great Scriptural reminders. And, if it is not too offensive, even the “bad news” is being managed by that great God of Israel. He brings the calamities and He brings the relief. That is why Joseph could say, “You meant it for evil, God meant it for good.” (Gen.). And, Paul can write that, “...all things work together for good, for those that love God, for those that are called according to His purpose.” Thank you for the morning thoughts.

Ever look up at the stars or at a photo from NASA or The Hubble Telescope and wonder if we're not putting our God in a tiny Solar system sized box?

If God can create our universe, could He not have created many many others, too? Could there not be other living beings, maybe even looking like we do, on other planets like our Earth?

We minimize God when we think that He belongs "just to us" on Earth. He CREATED all that stuff that's zillions of light years out there. Remember, in the Hebrew, Genesis 1:1 says "And God said: 'Light Be!'" He never told Light to stop!

And amidst the huge, gi-normousness of space and time, God loves me and you as individuals. God sent His Son "in the fullness of time." Our finite minds cannot even imagine the infinite love God has for us and for All His Creation.

I just marvel at the greatness of God every time I look to the heavens or see a photo from The Hubble Telescope.

April 30, 2009--For decades astronomers have wanted to know the secret to how galaxies get so smooth. After all, the stars that make up these cosmic neighborhoods start out as dense, cloudy clumps, yet mature galaxies are sleek disks of evenly distributed material.
NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope found the answer in "rivers" of young stars, as in this new Spitzer image of spiral galaxy NGC 2841. These stellar streams are created as a budding galaxy rotates, generating a shearing motion, which pulls the stars out of their dusty cocoons and spreads the stars across the galactic disk.

Israel is the name given to Jacob after his fight with the Angel of God.

The meaning of the name Israel is not clear, although Israel is most likely a compilation of the verb (sara 2287) and the noun (El 93a), the common abbreviation of Elohim.

The meaning of the verb (sara 2287) is uncertain and explained in many ways, chiefly because it is limited to contexts which discuss the struggle of Jacob with the Angel of the Lord, insinuating that where our language uses the common verb ‘struggle,’ the Hebrew uses a word that is specifically reserved for a certain action: the action of struggling with God.

BDB reports for (sara 2287) the Arabic cognate of persist, persevere, and relates it to the word (sora 2245a), rows, which only Isaiah uses, in 28:25. More interesting even is the word (misra 2288a), a unique word that probably means rule or dominion, and which Isaiah uses in the highly Messianic passage of 8:6, “...and the government is on His shoulder.” Nobody knows what the root of this word is but linguists have arrived at the conclusion that it must be identical to , the word that gave rise to the name Israel.

It gets even better when we look at the verb (sarar 2295), rule, reign, act as prince. Derivative (sar 2295) means prince, and (sarah 2295b) means princess and is (near) equal to the both the name of Jacob's grandmother Sarah and the root-word of Israel.

We can not say with certainty what the name Israel is supposed to mean, although it seems to reflect a certain inability of the Almighty God, namely the not being able to defeat a man like Jacob. We can be sure that God doesn't lack the physical strength to eradicate any human being, so we must conclude that the destruction of Jacob would go against the very nature of God. Perhaps the name Israel denotes God's continuous effort to keep Jacob going, even though Jacob continuous to fight God.

The name Israel means God Strives (NOBSE), or El Persisteth, Persevereth (BDB). BDB offers an alternative meaning of Let El Persist.

My friend, I think your reading to much into the post. The Post is just a simple reminder to those who know God of Israel according to the Scriptures and in Spirit and Truth and to those who refuse God to be encourage to look to Him.

Rightly stated though, God is indeed sovereign and has a plan as this big bad ugly world lives with out Him and rejects His saving grace.

May we trust Him the more as these days unravel before His Son’s glorious Second Coming!
