It wasn't meant to be snarky.

Denying the self-evident is not generally considered a useful debating skill...at least formally.

I was simply suggesting that you, who belong to an organization that consistently trashes scripture,...

Please define "trashes."

...has doctrine that is diametrically opposed to scripture,...

Such as?

...has repeatedly preferred tradition over scripture,...

which is wrong because...?

...and probably has the fewest adherents percentage wise in your faith that actually read scripture.....

as opposed to those who use the scripture as a cudgel...?

You're doing just fine without it...financially.....anyway.

Hospitals and orphanages are expensive! I suppose we could put our money into more air-time, like our separated brethren, but we've found turning spiritual babes loose with no more guidance than a bible is a recipe for chaos.

Our doors are always open. Those that are not spiritual will quickly grow bored with us. They will not be encouraged to "remain faithful" by entertainment.

Run the heretics off, dammit.

I'd rather they convert to the Church that Jesus Christ left for them...dammit.

Striking the martyrdom pose so early?

If you’re going to take flight from vigorous debate, so be it. But don’t blame bigol’freeper for that.

I have no argument with St. Paul, only with your misinterpretation of his words.

I didn't say you use the word "Saturday," I said you insist we worship on that date.

You even nitpick your own words. I said nothing about anything about the English name for the day.

Petronski said: No more odd than insisting we worship on the day named for worship of the pagan god Saturn.

As I said, we keep the Sabbath. The Seventh Day. Shabbat. No where did I speak of any pagan deity. But like all magicians, you seek to distract from your other hand... you still can't answer why your "church" insists on calling the "celebration of the Resurrection" after a pagan deity - and as the Canons of Nicea and Laodecia show, it was purposefully done to negate the "Jewish Passover." Call it what you like... it simply shows the fragility of your position.

Let's presume that moldy anti-Catholic brickbat is true, just for a moment. The Catholic Church would still have the most adherents, percentage-wise and population-wise, who actually understand Scripture.

Not your novel and gymnastic (mis)understanding of Scripture, mind you, but Christ's meaning.

You and I disagree whether Christ ever founded a church, much less gave it the authority to declare what is heresy.

So, what is a DUH moment for you is not one for me. You’re comfortable in your faith and it’s not threatening to me, so I have no problem with what you believe. Go for it.

Burn the heretics at the stake.

Bwahahaha!

...has repeatedly preferred tradition over scripture,...

papertyger said: "which is wrong because...?"

Ah, unless the words of Jesus mean nothing to you...

He answered and said to them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: 'This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' For laying aside the commandment of G-d, you hold the tradition of men..."Mark 7:6-8a

Oh, wait. I forgot. The "holy church" trumps Jesus. /sarcasm

Bzzzzt. Wrong.

I said:
No more odd than insisting we worship on the day named for worship of the pagan god Saturn.
...and you replied
Ah, but we don't.
Thus, you DID say something about anything about the English name for the day: you denied using it.

I'm not a magician, though it wouldn't take a magician to take note of your penchant for the ad hominem.

The Catholic Church doesn't insist on "on calling the "celebration of the Resurrection" after a pagan deity." That is your false formulation.

The Catholic Church refers to Easter Sunday by the name that evolved for Easter over centuries (like most of the rest of the English language).

...as the Canons of Nicea and Laodecia show, it was purposefully done to negate the "Jewish Passover."

Christians celebrate the Resurrection of the Messiah purposely to negate the Jewish Passover? Oh my, that's funny.

And despite your vast and flabby protestations, your chosen day of worship is named for the pagan god Saturn.

LOL! No idea who this "saint" dude is, but plain text is a tough thing for y'all. No wonder you have to fall back on tradition if plain text stares you in the face.

An interesting phenomenon exists on this thread. Look at the posters that quote Scripture, and those that simply respond with "nanny-nanny poopoo, we aren't listening when you talk against our "church"... wonder what that indicates?

In all good fun - thanks for the laughs. You guys are entertaining and I really do appreciate you posting.

I’m not afraid of debating you or anyone else. I have been a member here long enough that you could have picked up on that by now.

Some debates are more worth having than others, and I’m thinking this one with you probably isn’t one of them. I know where you stand and you’re not going to change your positions no matter what anyone says. That’s fine, but it doesn’t make discussion with you very interesting.

You don’t add anything new.

You disagree with me and Scripture on that point.

Burn the heretics at the stake.

Such is your suggestion, not mine. I hope the martyr's mantle is comfortable for you.

Nonetheless, you spoke of bigol’freeper somehow plotting or wanting to make this website all Catholic, which is absurd. Not only did he not suggest it, he has no authority to do it.

Such a thing could only happen if all the non-Catholics like yourself voluntarily quit or, by your suggestion, be burned at the stake.

I think self-immolation is a terrible sin, but if you’re game, I suppose I can’t stop you.

Your posts and interpretations of the New Testament alike make it very clear you have no idea who St. Paul is.
