I have friends who have been to Peru, and who have told me that it is one of the most culturally conservative, devoutly Catholic countries around. This is not a good sign.
The Cardinal Archbishop of Lima, Peru denounced pro-abortion forces as “traitors” in a homily last Sunday in the cathedral of the diocese.
“Human rights are often spoken of, but who defends the most defenseless one who is still within the womb of the mother?” Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani asked the crowd that had packed the cathedral.

As a prolife Protestant I say good for this bishop. The unborn child is the most persecuted group in human history. Other persecuted groups could at least riot and fight back against their oppressors. I have no patience for those who claim to speak for human rights but advocate destroying the most vulnerable among us.
