Our Great God
Romancing Royalty Devotional | Dudley Rutherford

Is not God in the heights of heaven? And see how lofty are the highest stars!
(Job 22:12)

Our great God has shrunk in the minds of modem Christians. He has become a dwarf rather than a giant. We get to thinking that He is too blind to see our stark misery, too deaf to hear our painful entreaties; His arms are too short and too weak to save us. I want to ask you: How big, how tall is your God? Have you squeezed Him into some tiny corner of your soul, or does He rule and reign on the throne of your life? That's the question. How tall is your God? I'm telling you He is taller than we know! No storm, no wave is bigger than the Man of Galilee who calmly sits in the back of the boat. He is waiting now to speak peace to the ocean and to your soul. No road or path is so long or rugged that He cannot suddenly appear beside you and walk you to your safe destination.

God is bigger than our needs. He is taller than our dreams, taller than the hunger of my soul, taller than the homesickness I have for Heaven and to live eternally. He is taller than all our heartaches, than our most regrettable setbacks, than our briny tears of grief. He is bigger than all my failures. I can trust Him. Now. I know I have gigantic needs. But I also know I have a God bigger than all my needs. How tall is your God? Is He big enough to trust? Is He big enough to save you? Is He big enough to bring you home safely?

For most - God looks remarkably like themselves. Such a god is too small - and worse, cannot save.

I think many modern Christians and Catholics or ones that call themselves those things need to come back to the basic teachings of the Bible. They need to stick up for themselves a lot more and not be ashamed of their beliefs and religion. Many need to come back to the fold, to do the right thing always however hard that may be rather than what makes them feel good or the expedient thing to do. They need to come back to the fold like the lost sheep spoken about in the Bible. It is not God who has abandoned them, it is they who have abandoned God.

Amen.

The Body of Christ worldwide (which knows no denomination) needs to heed Paul's admonition to be Bereans....and not to be ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power to save ones soul.
