Yes, this is a partial fulfillment but wait until full fulfillment comes and the earthquake that will shake the whole earth during one of the 21 judgements that will happen during the 7 year tribulation.
The Lord uses many old testament prophets to help us fully understand what is happening.
The sin of so many liberals in Christondom congregations is that such a view as yours excludes God’s work and promises to be fulfilled using Israel to bring all the nations to war against God Himself in the person of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amillenialism is a great heresy as it causes so many to curse Israel and therefore be cursed of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Again, search the scriptures and stop believing fool pastors and preachers and prists that have abandoned the Scriptures as the only truth, more than half of Christiondom is fighting against God and His only begotten Son Jesus Christ because they hate and despise Israel whom God will use to bring in the final war of nations against Israel, beloved of the Father and Son and Holy Spirit.

Your connection from Matthew 24:29 to Luke 23:44 was one I had not considered before. To me, the difference in the two that distinguishes them from being about the same time is...
1. The stars didn't fall, the stars being the fallen angels.
2. The rocks splitting could be the same as...Zechariah 14:4 except for the timing. In Luke the "rocks split" when He was crucified. In Zechariah it happens upon His return. To me, it was a type or shadow of what will be

Upon His resurrection all of those that believed in Him rose. Remember, between His crucifixion and resurrection He went to those "in prison" and taught them...offering His salvation. Those that accepted are the "holy people" that arose from the dead...the spiritually as well as physically dead.
The "holy city" they entered is the "New Jerusalem" that is His beloved city, us...believers.
