I have never been a part of the Catholic Church. And I would never be part of a church that I would need to change in order for it to meet my standards.
The church is supposed to be such that I change.
Go figure.
But please do not lose your place in the Ark which is the Catholic Church. Sure, in some ways --- like Noah's ark --- it's battered by torrential rains and waves outside, and almost overwhelming for the stink inside: still, it is is God's provision for our safety. Bitch if you want, bail out the bilge if you can, but don't abandon ship.
You're quite right about hypocrisy being rampant in all our reeling churches, both Catholic and Protestant --- and to get a fuller picture, check out Isaiah and Jeremiah saying the same thing in VERY strong terms, about the Jews--- God's chosen people.
Hypocrisy and outright mutiny were even rife amongst Jesus' chosen Twelve, His hand-picked men: one betrayed Him ,one denied three times that he even know Him, and the rest (except for John) headed for the tall grass when push came to shove.
But the prophets never abandoned God's chosen Israel despite its pathetic string of apostate kings, its Jezebels and gigolos. And to abandon His Church on account of hypocrites would be like abandoning Jesus on account of Judas.
What a travesty.
But the Church does not have to "change." It's the faithless who have "changed." They have abandoned the very clear and explicit (and changeless) doctrines of the Church.
Faithless "Catholics" need nothing other than repentance and fidelity. The Catholic Church needs only to be Catholic.
Well while I agree somewhat, I must say that the church is us not them. Where two are three are gathered in my name there shall I be also.
I am to meet with like mined people, people of faith.
There is an smell that cannot be overcome.
Allowing leaders such as Obama, Pelosi, Biden to even claim they are catholics is beyond the pale.
The Pope could do something, but there is a silence that is too much to bear. The children are being murdered as we speak and their cries go unanswered.
But ND will award Obama a degree, to sanction his bloodthirsty cult.
They lack the leadership that is required to lead. Instead the leaders have become the mirror of the parish. It is the flock that rules the church not the other way around.
If the Pope would say these people need to repent or out they go you would see some changes.
But instead they are giving the O a degree.
It is a slap in the face to the pro-life movement. And I can understand why many are leaving the church.
The people cry out for leadership and without any in the church they will turn to the One.
Obama is not, and does not claim to be, a Catholic.
Biden has been told by his bishop (Martino, in Scranton) that he must not present himsef for Communion until h reents, and all of the ministers of the Eucharist5 in the Scranton Diocese (priests, deacons, etc) have been told not to give him Communiuon.
Pelosi has been admonished to repent by the Pope himself, to her face. (That's the point of the papal encounter in Rome, no press conference, no photo op: this was not a political gabfest, it was a personal admonition from the Pope.
And Obama speaking at ND? He won't speak. Not if we do our job.
We're already on the march. There's a well-organized campaign to stop this travesry from ever happening. HERE ARE YOUR MARCHING ORDERS. Get on task, my friend.
Ignore all the tyosoe. That’s the OTHER thing I do when I’m angry. :o/
We're already on the march. Our excellent ally, the Cardinal Newman Society, has launched a well-organized campaign to stop this travestry from ever happening. HERE ARE YOUR MARCHING ORDERS. Let's get on task, my friends.
I’ve already written a note to the president of ND and sent it off.
This is just to distract the alumni from the heartbreaking football seasons that have come upon ND.
I sent an email to ND
I have to wonder how they could choose this man when there are so many who live an honorable life and don’t stand for denying medical treatment to babies born alive following an attempted abortion.
This is so beyond the pale.
I’ve also e-mailed a group of people to write ND and sign the petition.
signed it and spread it a bit. This might be worth printing up some flyers to pass out at parishes, eh?
Signed it. If he doesn’t get disinvited, maybe a road trip to protest will be in order?
Bishop Martino has been in the news a lot lately (Scranton PA diocese) because of his actions in sticking up for the tenets of the Catholic church (challenging Catholic politicians who vote pro-abortion, speaking out against a local Catholic university after they sponsored a "diversity" speech by a homosexual, etc). The 2 politicians that he has focused on are Sen Bob Casey of PA and Joe Biden. Do a search on FR and I'm sure you will find a bunch of threads on Bishop Martino.

Sign the petition — Cardinal Newman Society is taking NDU on.
Thanks for the link. I have signed the petition, sent the email and forwarded this to friends. I have also posted a prayer on the Notre Dame pray site to stop this.
Also, do not use potty language - or references to potty language - on the Religion Forum.
