Are you a Christian? If so, are you hot, cold or lukewarm? Think I'm nuts for asking? God refers to all three in Revelation, chapter 3. In talking to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans, (Rev. 3:15) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (Rev. 3:16) So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth

I have lots to say about this topic.

I have a niece who was married less than a year ago. I think she and my brother and sister-in-law all went lukewarm. I think my niece through her values away to marry someone who was rich and who wined and dined her.

He constantly bought her things and they went on all sorts of vacations.

All of their pictures are of them at bars.

The guy was in a fraternity at school known for partying, his family is big in the democratic party in Texas (his mom was an elected judge), and he gambled and his favorite vacation spot is Las Vegas.

I never got to know the guy because I live in California, but I this is what my family told me about him. I met him at the wedding, and it was the most elaborate wedding I had ever been to. There was tons of drinking (wine, champagne, open bar), and little Christianity.

Well, I found out last week that my niece went home a few months after the wedding and found a woman coming out of their home. Her husband had been sleeping with this woman even when they were engaged. (Her husband bought my niece a mercedes after this.) I guess there were other women involved.

The couple was not very active in church. I doubt my niece ever really complained about Obama and his stance on abortion or any other topic because “she’s not political”.

I’m praying that this will be a huge learning event for my niece and she will return to her Christian upbringing and grow closer to God.

Thank you for sharing .. the world does seem to try and avert our attention from God. The task before us seems to be always putting God first. And while it sounds easy..it is hard to do in reality. And,I believe it will become extremely hard in the end times.

I hope the coming revival is greater than the coming apostasy, and I hope my Christian life helps bring about the former, rather than the latter. Maybe if more young women and young men were encouraged to be Christians by their experiences with Christians, there would be fewer abortions and less sexual immorality, fewer divorces, and fewer single-parent children, more Christian culture influencing our society. Christians should stick out like a sore thumb in contrast to world they live in. I don’t get out much, so I can’t comment on how much of that I see, but I hope y’all are seeing it.

A big part of the problem is that young christians are not taught sound doctrine. Everything is “this what we believe, yada yada yada” rather than understanding why. Also lack of church history to encourage and to see how early saints lived and worshiped. I attended a baptist church 18 years and never knew anything about the reformation, church fathers, etc. Just cherry picked versus to support baptists doctrine. Ignorance and lack of knowledge is destroying christian youth.

I grew up in the Methodist church, and they did a good job of teaching us church history in church membership classes. I’m not a fan of the Methodist church these days because I think it has gone too liberal, but I like that I know church history.

My current church does not do anything about church history. My kids are going to Christian schools, and they are learning a little bit there. However, I think I was taught more in my church membership class.
