For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
(I Corinthians 3:11)
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
(Matthew 16:18)
Who is the foundation of the Christian Church? Certainly not man. Not rules or traditions. Not even the Holy Spirit or God the Father. Certainly not Mohammed, Buddha, Joseph Smith or any other earthling. We have sung before: "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand."
When is the last time you heard an entire sermon on Jesus Christ, or have you ever attended a seminar on Jesus Christ? We have a tendency to take the precious Lamb of God, the Lion of the tribe of Judah for granted. Remember when John was marooned on that ghastly prison island of Rome called Patmos? Oh, he had been with Jesus before and after His resurrection, but since His ascension John of course had not seen Him. But on Patmos, God pulled back the curtain and John got a glimpse of Jesus.
Here is what John saw: "His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of rushing waters. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead" (Revelation 1:14-17).
I beg you, friend, to fix your heart upon Jesus Christ. Stay in your Bible and learn who Jesus is. He is the foundation of the Church and of life and all eternity.
AMEN, WhatNot. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
Thank you.
Do you post these devotionals every day? If so, could you add me to your list. Thanks again - this post was very timely for me right now.
This Lamb of God will return. He will not be a cute little fuzzy cuddle creature but the God of wrath for those who mock and reject him. John of the revelation sees him and those who belong to the world as they say to the rocks and mountains, “fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the WRATH OF THE LAMB” ( caps mine).
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Mark 8:38 “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
