You believe what you are told by men. Imagine for a moment that I really know God.
I’ve been there - I followed Joseph Smith who believed he too talked to God. I will never again trust a man over the word of God. Men are often deceived.
Does God tell you things that align with the Bible? That is the proper check to see if God is speaking to you. If he is telling you something different, something not aligned with the Bible, then the god who speaks to you is not my God.
