Often it seems that no matter what you say, somebody will get their nose out of joint.
It’s a beautiful day that God has made, here in central Illinois anyway. If you’re knee deep in snow where you are, you may be offended by that.

The poster who claimed that God needed him as a friend seems to have left but the implication seemed to be that God was brought down to human level or that man can be brought to God level...or both.
I know that I’m not a co equal of God, nor will I ever be. Lucifer wanted that and we know the rest of that story.

We're trying to introduce you to the Shepherd.,
Yes, but are you trying to introduce us to the Shepherd that teaches people to baptize babies.
Or
Are you trying to introduce us to that other Shepherd that teaches that infant baptism is false doctrine???
Which Shepherd are you trying to introduce me to?

It doesn’t matter.
It seems that all Mormons have been sent out today to ask the baptism question.
What is baptism? If you answer that question for me, then we might be able to start to have a conversation about it.

It occurs to me that all the rabid posts by the mormons today are an effort to call attention away from last night's Big Love episode in which the temple ceremony is shown.
With that in mind, I thought I'd do the service of providing the link to the show. This is not YouTube, it appears the YouTube links are being taken down as soon as they appear.
Enjoy!

Its called free speech. Right up there with freedom of religion — even whacked out cults like Scientology, Islam, and Mormonism.

Bigotry takes on a lot of forms. Smug disrespect is one of them. Unless y'all get figured out who Jesus REALLY is before this life passes, you will have much worse waiting for you...

Yeah, pretty much. I will give the anglicans props for one thing, though — the next time one of ‘em shows up on my door selling their cult will be the first time.

Bigotry takes on a lot of forms. Smug disrespect is one of them. This article will be used to provide intellectual justification for intolerance. Here are his so-called rules
1..Use of non-authoritative sources and out-of-context quotations
2. Attack the story of the Book of Mormon's origin, not its contents
3. Distort Mormon doctrines by comparing them to the unscriptural teachings of Christian creeds
4. When all else fails, lie!
5. Use slander, personal attacks, and character assassination
6. Accuse your opponent of doing the very thing you are doing
Well he's got #5 and 6 down pretty well, doesn't he.

I guess Smithmas came early this year.
Lol. I remember families in my ward celebrating JS birthday (December 23) with “birthday parties” and then not really doing much for Christmas. Even as an LDSer I thought that was wrong.

You know full well what we believe but, here goes:
Articles of Faith
The Articles of Faith outline 13 basic points of belief of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Prophet Joseph Smith first wrote them in a letter to John Wentworth, a newspaper editor,
in response to Mr. Wentworth's request to know what members of the Church believed.
They were subsequently published in Church periodicals.
They are now regarded as scripture and included in the Pearl of Great Price.
THE ARTICLES OF FAITH OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp. 535541
- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
- We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
- We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
- We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
- We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
- We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
- We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
- We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
- We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
- We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
- We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of PaulWe believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
Joseph Smith |
Definitions of creed:
- From the Latin word "credere" -- to believe. A short statement of religious belief, usually motivated by a desire to emphasize church teaching as opposed to a heresy.
- A formal summary of religious belief; an authoritative statement of doctrine
- Any system of principles or beliefs
- Religious doctrine: the written body of teachings of a religious group that are generally accepted by that group
- A creed is a statement or confession of belief usually religious belief or faith.
- A statement of religious beliefs agreed by the church to be true.
- A system of religious beliefs, including moral or ethical beliefs about right and wrong, that are sincerely held with the strength of traditional religious views.
- A statement of faith binding upon a given religious body.
- A statement of faith.
- A formal statement of religious belief/proclamation of faith
Ya gotta love that...AND SO FORTH phrase!

Watch out for Calvinists around here, though.
Welcome to Mormonism 101
We'll begin in a minute.
In the mean time, you may enjoy the art that is on our walls.
You may think some of our doctrine a bit shifty; but if you study it real close in one area, it will be quite steady.
Please ignore any shifting you THINK you observe elsewhere, for if you look at THAT area; it, too, will become fixed.
