Ever notice how whenever anyone in Rome makes the smallest comment, they are always referred to in the headlines as “Vatican:”
Unless they are speaking out against abortion, socialism, etc.? Then its always presented as the opinion of one guy in Rome. The Jesuit newsweekly is not “the Vatican.” The scientific observatory in Rome is not “the Vatican.” But this guy IS “the Vatican.” He’s the ecclesiastical equivalent of John Roberts. And he’s only “Archbishop Burke.”
And this from the “Catholic News Agency.” How can we ever expect the secular press to report the truth? (At least, being a Catholic news source, they cover this stuff.)
Also there’s a bazillion “top Vatican officials”. I don’t think there’s a junior level official in the whole joint.
