Well, the only time in human history when that happened was on Noah’s Ark. If you don’t count Noah and his wife (I don’t think they had any more kids), then you’ve got humanity squeezed down to three women. It was through the three wives of the three sons of Noah that all humanity came to be, to the present time.

Actually, you do need to count Noah’s wife, because she gave her X chromosome to all her sons.

So there would have been 7 different X chromosomes on the Ark.

But those three were not Eve-types. Each of the three had a mother who had a mother who had a mother ... Thus the DNA pool would go back further than the Flood.
