Who knew the ancient Hopi's told stories about the great ISS in the sky.

I'm not discounting prophecies but think this calendar business is just the dude got tired of chiseling or was laid off due to the Mayan economy.

Rock cutters had unionized and were striking for more benifits, and less work.
No new rocks were arriving because the rock movers were also striking to support their cutting brothers
Then the Spanish arrived, with paper, and the entire rock economy collapsed.

I always figured the guy had a heart attack and his son didn't care much for chiseling and started a rock band instead of taking up the family business.

Uhh, no. Have you seen their calendar? It's not like ours, to say the least. The biggest misconception is that dec 21st, 2012 is the "end" of the Mayan calendar. It's the end of what they called "the long cycle". It describes a 26000 year cycle of the way the earth spins on its axis.

Their prophesy said this would be a time of great change. What that means, I can't wait to find out because I dont like where we are now.

I recently took a trip to Progresso Mexico and visited some ancient Mayan ruins. I asked our guide specifically about the calendar. He described how the Mayan counting system worked and that when their calendar "ends" it is only that it has reached the end of the number system. The calendar would then start at the beginning and count up again from there. It's sort of like a clock. When the hand reaches 23:59:59 the day is ending, and also just beginning a new counting time period or new day.

If you take time to study the Gospel in the stars you will see some pretty amazing things. One thing that jumped out at me when reading this article is related to the ages of the Mazzaroth. (Scripture references on the Mazzaroth, or Zodiac, can be found in Job 9:7-9, Job 38:31-33, Isaiah 40:26, Amos 5:8, Psalms 19:1-6, and Psalms 147:4 to name a few. It is important when studying the Mazzaroth to review the ancient texts. The Devil is known to pervert the truth and he has definitely perverted the Gospel in the Stars by making the Zodiac an object of worship. The zodiac is not to be worshiped, but has been placed in the heavens by God Almighty.)

We are currently at the end of the Age of Pisces. (For detailed Biblical information on Pisces read here: here and here)

"Jesus embodied the Piscean archetype, linking the first sign Aries with the last sign Pisces, the alpha with the omega, starting not just one new age, but a whole cycle of twelve ages. People began spiritually cleansing themselves through the baptismal rites, as Pisces is a water element sign. Suddenly, water was sacred (as opposed to fire) and the fish became holy. Early Christians would identify themselves by drawing the sign of Pisces in the sand. Jesus spoke often of the age of his birth as a preparation age for the Age of Enlightenment to follow. He was referring to the Age of Aquarius that is symbolized by the cosmic man bearing the pitcher of the living waters of life, pouring it throughout the universe.(excerpt from here)

The reason I brought up these two ages is the timing of the transition between the two are related to the times and season that we are currently in.

The Earth's rotation axis is not uniform. Like a rotating toy top, the direction of the rotation axis has a slow wobble or precession with a period of 25,920 years. Astrologers call the 25,920 year cycle a Great Year and divide it into twelve Ages according to the constellations. When the sun enters the spring equinox, the constellation in the background determines the zodiacal Age. Figure 5 shows the sun entering the Age of Pisces at 6 BCE. 2160 years before, the sun was in the Age of Aries. 2160 years after Pisces, about 2012 CE, Aquarius will be in the background and it will be the Age of Aquarius. Because of the direction of precession, the Great Year cycle progresses in the reverse direction of the solar cycle. (copied from here)

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs (owth), and for seasons (mow' ed), and for days (yowm), and years (shaneh):

'owth (Strong's 0226) a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, ets.: --mark, miracle, (en-)sign, token.

mow' ed (Strong's 4150) properly, an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season; specifically a festival

The sun, moon, and stars were placed in the skies by God Almighty to be signs to us for the seasons we are living in. We would be prudent to understand what the Lord is revealing through the Mazzaroth, as well as through the sun and the moon. An excellent study on the eclipses and how they relate to the season we are in can be found here)
