Multiplication

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.
(II Timothy 2:2)

Jesus is the Great Mathematician! He invented multiplication. Here is His simple plan for planet earth: "Somebody told you, now you are to tell somebody else, and that somebody else is supposed to tell others." Jesus wants you and me and everybody to be a personal evangelist. There are three reasons I want to get in on His multiplication plan.

1. My life belongs to God. We call it "my life," but it isn't really. Nothing belongs to us. Even the name you wear was given to you. I am on earth for a short time and that time belongs to God.

2. Life is so brief. The Bible teaches that life doesn't last very long. Life is like a vapor, a plant that withers and dies, a weaver's shuttle, a tale that is told and many other metaphors describing the fleetingness of life. The only way I can make use of this precious gift of life is by inviting others to His matchless love.

3.1 want my life to count for something worthwhile. When I come to the end of my life I do not want it said of me what was said of an old couple in Somerset Maugham's Of Human Bondage: "It was as if they had never lived at all." I want to live for the Lord with the ever-limited time I have left and help magnify and multiply His undefeatable Kingdom.

While I understand your message, I would caution you against the claim of Jesus inventing multiplication. We know the Egyptians were practitioners of both multiplication and division, long before Jesus was born.

To make such a claim reduces the credibility of the message and it is such an important message and clearly needs to be followed today, that I would hate for someone to turn a deaf ear because of that claim.

Who do you think created the Egyptians?
