I have been listening to an old Christian song. It goes like this:
I waited for the Lord He inclined unto me He heard my complaint He heard my complaint x2
O, blest are they that hope and trust in the Lord x2
etc.
It is an old song by Mendelssohn and not meant to be ironic.
Do these lyrics seem strange to you Christians? Seems like in church they talk a lot about praising God, giving thanks, etc., but not about complaining to Him. Does God hear complaints?

He’s hearing my anger at the moment. A LOT of it. I know He’s patient, though, and a great listener. :)
I dont think the Almighty gives much heed to whiners.
Probably as often as folks praying for what they wish would occur instead of God’s will.
He outsources the complaint department to Buddha.
He hears our complaints. He’s “especially fond of us.”
Hymnody is a study to itself. Not all hymns reflect sound doctrine. However, God does hear all our prayers - even complaints. It doesn’t mean He gives us all we want...thankfully, He is much more merciful and wise than that!
HE knows what you are going to say before you say it,or want it,or complain about whatever.
HE IS GOD.
And He loves me anyway. Personally, I would kick myself to the curb. But God is much nicer than I am.
The Lord appears to be silent to me, but whatever and how much faith I have I believe he hears our prayers.

Luke 18 (King James Version)
Luke 18
1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
(Also, the Jews complained about Manna and he sent them quails until the meat stuck in their teeth.)

Read the Psalms much?
They do that kind of thing all the time.
It seems to me that anytime you pray for relief from a personal or worldly grief, you are voicing a complaint to God. You are saying that you are not satisfied with the way things are, but that’s okay... He understands. He wants us to bring our troubles to Him and place our trust in Him. I don’t see the problem here.
Does your earthly father listen to your complaints? Then why wouldn’t your heavenly Father?
Read the Book of Numbers. The children of Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness complaining. For example, Numbers 20:1-3 “Then came the children of Israel, [even] the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there. And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!”
Sometimes their whining got them more than they bargained for; knee-deep quails, fiery serpents, stuff like that. But oh yes, the LORD did indeed hear their complaining!
And did they die of thirst? Did they die of hunger? Absolutely not. The LORD gave them what they needed, not necessarily what they wanted.
The fourth verse of 'I know That My Redeemer Lives'
He lives to grant me rich supply,
He lives to guide me with His eye,
He lives to comfort me when faint,
He lives to hear my souls complaint.
A singularly Christian hymn, based upon sound doctrine.
As others have pointed out, God hears complaints and He will handle them. Unfortunately, for some of us, He does it in His good time.
I don’t understand why some people have a problem with that concept. I think that turning all things over to Him, shows more praise than a quick “bless this food, let’s eat’.
And sometimes He says NO...but it's always best in the long run.
Read Psalms, he hears and listens and desires for us to cry out to him, what we feel is neither right nor wrong, they are feelings and when we cry out to him, he helps us to work out what we are feeling.
