To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.
(Revelation 2:17)

The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.
(Exodus 16:31)

The Bible closes with God's promise to give the hidden manna to the redeemed. You remember what manna from Heaven is, don't you? Way back yonder in the Old Testament, when God's people were being freed from slavery and were wandering the wilderness, they had no food, no convenience stores, no 7-11 's, no concession stands, no supermarkets or warehouse stores. God sent down from Heaven a miraculous bread called manna. I have always called manna "God's Heavenly honey buns." The manna was a wafer-like bread or pastry that fell each morning. The people of God would wake up, run outside and gather up from the ground this miracle bread called manna. It was manna that sustained them, fed them, kept them and nourished them. Without manna, they would have died. They would have covered the desert sands with their carcasses.

Now in God's last will and testament called Revelation, God promises that some way, somehow, in Heaven, the saved will have a new hidden manna. Scholars have determined that the hidden manna is none other that the matchless Christ. Jesus will be our bread! Not only is He the Bread of Life in this world, but He will also be the Bread of Life in the next. Jesus has not been seen for over 2,000 years; thus He is called the Hidden Manna. I think God is saying: Don't worry or fret about what you are going to eat in Heaven. Don't worry about being sustained in Glory land. We will have the Hidden Manna, Jesus Christ, on which to feed. And all God's people said, "Amen!"

“Heavenly Honey Buns” was a girl I dated in college. Her real name was Gretel van Kamp.
