I’d rather see Abp. Chaput in New York. Well, really, I wanted to see him in Washington, D.C., but New York would be good, too.

If Abp. Burke wasn’t at the Apostolic Signatura, he’d be my first choice.

Chaput needs to replace Mahoney in LA. How many more years are the Catholics of the LA Archdiocese going to have to suffer through this man. Every Catholic in LA should receive a plenary indulgence for having to live through Roger’s years as Archbishop.

Archbishop Chaput is my Bishop. He writes well on important issues, but underperforms when it comes to “real life” application of Catholic principles of life and family issues, particularly when it comes to holding politicians accountable.

If he can not take on the relatively weak ‘Catholic’ Gov. of Colorado, Bill Ritter, how do you expect him to perform in the NYC pressure cooker?

Ditto. From what I understand, one of the reasons Dolan has been chosen is because there is still a large Irish population in NYC. No doubt there is more to it than just that but it should be interesting to see how he handles the abuses up here in Albany and Rochester and other dioceses within this jurisdiction. We need someone who can navigate the waters of progressiveness that permeate this state.
