My first reaction to Roy was “Oh no.. here’s a male Oprah who wants to tell you you have problems where none exist. Time went on and I thought I’d give Roy another try.. I actually listened this time and what he said made a lot of sense, he was talking about me and a lot of people I know.. some of it I didn’t want to hear.. it would be too much work to confront my demons (and we all have them). Issues I have lived with all of my life.. Why stir everything up when you can live in ignorant bliss.. right? Even painful emotions feel so much a part of you, they become your identity. You become comfortable with what is killing you.. You wouldn’t know how to live without them.. You’re not sure you could live without them.. So you smoke, drink or whatever it is you do to drown out you conscience. You embrace the bad and forgo the good.. Isn’t that what Liberals do??
The main thing I got out of Roy show was that we must be honest with ourselves first.. He sometimes sounds cultish, but the difference is.. Roy isn’t asking you to follow him.. He’s asking you to follow Your conscience given to you by God. Tell me how that can be a bad thing.
