Could have fooled me. I certainly had to make every move on my own when I investigated Catholicism.

although perhaps not in the way you're used to seeing Protestants do it. (There are theological reasons for that; it's not only cultural.)

If you're referring to the tendency of the liturgical churches to increase membership via treaties signed between the heads of churches (by which masses of people go to bed as members of one church and wake up as members of another without even being aware of it) then I must admit that I prefer the Protestant way.
