When you have nearly 500 professional apostles on your side, it's nitpicking.

There’s a YouTube video of Peter Wagner commissioning and “apostolically aligning” Todd Bentley, the convulsive, wayward, signs and wonders fellow from the Lakeland, FL Revival. Many of the big wig new age apostles and prophets were at the event (I think I saw Cindy Jacobs on stage), which took place on June 23, 2008. He was even anointed with special “revival oil” from Chuck Pierce.

By August, Todd Bentley had left his wife and has since been accused of serious moral sin, including adultery.

At this “aligning” ceremony, Wagner “decreed” that Bentley’s power, authority, favor, influence, and revelation would increase. And he also “decreed” that “new supernatural strength will flow through this ministry”. There was mention of a “prophecy” by one Bob Jones that Bentley’s ministry would move to a “whole different level”. Talk about the prophets failing miserably. Too bad Bob couldn’t see the events of August, or maybe that is what he meant.

How did Wagner, and his cohort of supernatural apostles, not see all this coming in less than two months? Were they not speaking for God? Or is this truly just an “apostolic sham”?

Even arguing as long as progress and learning was occurring could be . . . tolerable.

However, chronic obsessive rock throwing in the fashion, spirit, attitude of the religious leaders of Jerusalem 2000 years ago and without sufficient Biblical and factual basis gets old fast.

Lots of things . . . God alone will be able to set straight.

However, He usually requires folks to be at least a LITTLE

How ‘bout we start with your original claim:

They have a positive track record and were preparatorily on top of this fall's socialist-convenient financial crisis. I.e., before the crisis, they were called to pray about it, both before and during that time.

Let’s discuss the accuracy of that statement. How would you propose to back it up?

That is a rational conclusion. Not the only rational conclusion, but I admit that it is a rational conclusion.

I've discussed this kind of thing before. I don't deny the possibility of present day tongues, prophecy, etc... I explained my understanding of Scripture, but, as I indicated, I could be wrong. This is not a theological point that I am completely sold on. Why? Because deny the possibility denies the power of God. But, at the same time I can't get away from the understanding that I have.

1. It's neither absurd nor irrational. Countless theologians have come to this interpretation over the past, at least hundreds of years. This isn't some new, wild and crazy off the wall interpretation of Scripture.

There is a twofold imperfect, and so a twofold perfect state of the Christian church. The church in its beginning, or in its first stage, before it was strongly established in the world, and settled in its New Testament state, and before the canon of Scripture was completed, was in an imperfect state — a state, as it were, of childhood, in comparison with what it was to be in its elder and later ages, when it should have reached its state of manhood, or of comparative earthly perfection. And so, again, this comparatively perfect church of Christ, so long as it remains in its militant state, that is, down to the end of time, will still be in an imperfect, and, as it were, in a childish state, in comparison with what it will be in its heavenly state, in which latter it is comparatively in its state of manhood or perfection.

Of course there are those that disagree with this interpretation, notably, John Calvin, RC Sproul, and John Piper...all three have interpreted the "perfect" as the perfected Church after the the Second Coming of Christ.

Anyhow, point is, I'm not sold on my understanding here, but it is an established theological understanding. And, as pointed out by other replies, modern day "prophets" who operate for a profit, are not able to convince me otherwise.

2. "easily trashed . . . knowledge has not passed away" Unless, of course, the knowledge Paul is talking about is the knowledge of the apostles or the knowledge of the witnesses of the resurrection. This would be a terribly long exegesis to explain.

3. but as prophecied . . . has mushroomed and spread far and wide in increasing proportions, more and more broadly.Where was this prophesied? I'm not doubting you, just direct me to what you're looking at.

Ummm, no. All of God's Word is perfect. Every bit of God's Word before the Psalmist wrote that is perfect. Every bit of God's Word after the Psalmist wrote that is perfect.

No, old theology. It's been around a lot longer than the International Coalition of Prophets, Associate degrees in prophecy and "slain in the spirit."
