Though an atheist now I love those words and the Gibbons tune they’re often sung to. (They fit so well I think the poet had that tune in mind.) I was looking for the author of the verse when I came on your post. The third verse begins, (if I recall correctly)
Fullness of life, in body mind and soul
Who saves his life shall lose it thou hast said
A great adventure with a glorious goal
Nothing that lives in thee is ever dead...
Not a bad way to live even if you don’t believe in an afterlife. (I don’t come close!)
I thought, by the way, it ran “and death brings SOLACE for a little space” but I don’t have copy so you are probably right.

You can't find that hymn online due to copyright restrictions and I racked my brain trying to remember those lines but couldn't come up with them.
I'm going to direct that the hymn (with the Gibbons melody) be sung at my funeral in place of any kind of eulogizing whatsoever.
