Pray for our Nation & President-Elect Obama

14Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.

15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

16And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

17For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

18And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.

19And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

20If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

22And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

23Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

24And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

Dear Heavenly Father, 2008 was the year America lost its mind. With Barack Obama on the way to the White House and Al Franken on the way to the Senate; with Nancy Pelosi reversing Gingrich's fairness policies and Harry Reid deciding that he is the decider of who may or may not be seated in Congress; with a Supreme Court that has turned mute and deaf to any Constitutional Concerns regarding our elected officials, and a President who has reversed years of capitalistic policies for the very antithesis of conservatism - America lost its mind. Has she lost her soul as well?

Thus far, she still lukewarmly supports Israel in a clear fight of good versus evil. Thus far. Her Messiah-elect however has been relatively silent. What happens when he calls for a cease fire and for "Israel to stop her agression?" The dutiful media will drum anti-Israel statements into the electorates head, and I'm afraid they will comply without so much as an interuption of their favorite TV show.

In January or soon thereafter, Obama has promised to pass an act that would nullify the progress of the right to life movement and will make Infanticide a staple in this land. The people had this information out there and either were too stupid and lazy to look it up or really didn't care enough for it to make a difference.

If we have not lost our soul as a nation, we are perilously close. I fear when that bill is signed, it will seal America's fate once and for all. Still, You are sovereign.

If it be judgment or if it be mercy, know that we Your people, Your remnant in America stand with You. We know our country has sinned. We ourselves have done so. We repent of our sins and beg mercy for our nation - but we also know that Your wrath can not remain silent forever. How much innocent blood do we have to shed in order to merit Your judgment? One drop. How much more do we have coming to us if this country remains unregenerate and continues to kill its most innocent members?

Lord, save us. Wake this country up so that she knows clearly this is her choice - good or evil. She has been sleep-walking thus far through some horrendous decisions. Wake her up and say to her "choose You this day whom You will serve." As for me and my house, like Joshua of old, we will serve the Lord. May America choose likewise.

For President-Elect Obama, I pray that You would open his eyes as well. I do not pray for his prosperity in so far as his agenda is concerned. Such would be blasphemy. I pray only for the salvation of his soul. Draw him to Yourself and show him his need for repentance and for a Savior. Only if he has a heart inclined towards Your ways can we survive. Short of that, we face an unfortunately deserved destruction.

For those who have refused to bow their knees to the gods of this world, remember America in Your mercy. Help us Lord. You alone are our hope.

Haggai 2:3-5

Father, we thank You for Your promise to us. We agree to work for You as You command us. We thank You for establishing Your kingdom in us and through us. We offer ourselves to you as living sacrifices and ask that You direct our hearts in a way that is pleasing to You. We speak life, truth, and righteousness over this land and over our government. Let Your truth permeate the very soul of Barack Obama so that Your light will shine forth from this nation. We thank You for Your goodness and mercy that are renewed daily and lift up our leaders to You out of obedience to Your precious Word. We declare our trust in You and ask that you bless our leaders as a blessing for this nation. In Christ's name, amen.

You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship You. The earth is Yours, O Lord, and everything in it—the world and all who live in it. For You are a great God, the great King above all gods. In Your hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to You. The sea is Yours, for You made it, and Your hands formed the dry land. In Your hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. Deliver us O Lord, from the fiery furnace, for we Your children have refused to bow down to the image of gold, fastened by the hands of blasphemers. In Jesus name, Amen.
