"Valuing" children doesn't mean just getting them born and claiming to "value" them while ignoring their needs. Bristol is perfectly healthy and normal, but her parents didn't value her enough to put aside some of their own pursuits to focus on raising her, preferring to run off on political campaigns and to the oil fields while she was searching for affection in the only place she could find it, at drunken parties with other teens whose parents are ignoring them (like Levi, whose mother was busy with her drug-dealing enterprise). Many conservatives talked about Sarah as if she's some sort of saint because she chose to give birth to a DS baby, ignoring the fact that she doesn't let ANY of her children interfere with her outside pursuits of personal satisfaction.

My point about the crack whores is that they don't let the babies they give birth to interfere with their lifestyle either, and that's why they don't care whether the babies are damaged by the drugs or have DS or any other disability. They rarely abort for any reason, and that's not evidence that they "value" the lives of their babies. Regardless of whether their baby is normal or disabled, they'll keep right on smoking crack, sleeping with crack dealers, and leaving their helpless little children in filthy homes with no food and the violent boyfriend-of-the-week. And already having one or two or three babies that they can't/won't care for decently, doesn't strike them as any reason to avoid having more -- they won't stop sleeping around and won't bother to use contraceptives.

Contraception is not pro-life. Abortion is not pro-life.

Getting pregnant prior to marriage is not such a bad thing at all. Valuing life must begin at the beginning, and it seems that Palin understands that. The fact that her teenage daughter chose to marry and give birth to her baby tells me that Palin has succeeded as a mother; her daughter knows the right decision to make regarding life, regardless of the criticism she has received. That takes courage and integrity.

Palin may not be a saint, but it is clear that she is doing something very right.
