Intriguing, referenced, and accurate.

I was raised Mormon, and left the church because of these things which are kept hidden from the members, within the last 6 months.

They cannot defend against these quotes by their own prophets taken from their own books.

Now watch them attack the messenger.....

"There are those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints do not believe in the traditional Christ. No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak.” – LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley (LDS Church News, June 20, 1998)

The "traditional" Christ is the one from the Bible. HE is the one who died for our sins.

If Mr. Hinckley chooses to believe in a different Christ, that certainly is his prerogative. However, since the the one he believes in is not the one mentioned in the original Scripture, I doubt that different christ, whom he believes in, would be capable of doing anything for any one since that one did not have God's blessing or approval.

Romans 6:10 says that Christ died once for all. Nothing else is needed. If another christ comes along, he's impotent because the Christ of the Gospels has already done all that is needed.

Mr. Hinckley can get points for honesty but sadly it will do him no good in the long run.

I sure appreciate your candidness. I’ve learned a lot more about Mormonism recently than I ever knew in my entire life.

Those are some pretty condemning sources and quotations.

Things you never knew about Mormonism....

This elevating a man as a messiah stuff just doesn’t work very well.

It’s not right when it’s Obama and it’s not right when it’s any other man.

"There are those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints do not believe in the traditional Christ. No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak.” – LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley (LDS Church News, June 20, 1998)

"I don’t know that we teach it. I don’t know that we emphasize it. I haven’t heard it discussed for a long time in public discourse. I don’t know. I don’t know all the circumstances under which that statement was made. I understand the philosophical background behind it. But I don’t know a lot about it and I don’t know that others know a lot about it."

- LDS President and Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley,
speaking of Brigham Young's 1852 "Adam, Our Father And God" sermon,
Time Magazine, August 4, 1997, page 56

Alex, I think that Hinckley quote was from a time interview, but the topic was not Young's "ADAM IS GOD" DOCTRINE, but the "Even as men are, God once was, even as God is, men may be" DOCTRINE.

I'm glad you brought this up too, it illustrates just how deceptive even the modern "Prophets" can be. this is taught all over in LDS DOCTRINE. It is the cornerstone of "hope" in the LDS "plan of salvation" (ripped off by Smith from Swedenborg's "A Treatise on Heaven and Hell", 1775). Hinckley is lying his butt off here. He does know, BUT HE WAS A LAWYER, this answer is not a yes and not a no....

Hickley was a lawyer.

I caught a little bit of that so I know what you’re referring to.

What perverted behavior towards young, innocent teens. It makes me sick and angry when people use religion as an excuse or blame God for behavior that is used to satisfy their own perverted lusts.

All I can think of now when I picture this is the wicked king in the movie "Braveheart" when he grants his "nobles" the right of "Prima Nocta"...the right to bed brides on their wedding night.

This was very, very, similar. I'm sure smith personally took part, and "supervised" closely.

More folks finally fed up?

By their fruits ye shall know them ...

I think Joseph Smith's birthday is the perfect time to reflect on his legacy. Here's my list of some of the fruits of Joseph Smith...

A prophet who taught:

  1. That Jesus and Satan are brothers

  2. That God had incestuous sexual relations with His daughter, Mary, impregnating her with Jesus

  3. That Christian pastors are "dimwitted hirelings of Satan"

  4. Of sacred scriptures based on pagan works such as prayers to Egyptian gods for dead spirits – which were supposedly translated using occult devices such as peep stones

  5. That God is a polygamous celestial stud married to our Heavenly Mother, whose name is so sacred we are not to say it out loud

  6. Of Kolob and of other worlds named Planet Oblish and Planet Enish-go-on-dosh ruled by a governing power through the medium of Kli-flos-is-es, or Hah-ko-kau-beam

  7. Of prominent display of Satanic symbols such as pentagrams, baphomets, earth stones, and saturn stones on his churches' religious buildings and literature

  8. Of portraying Satan as the god of this world and having him teach church doctrine in the Mormon temple ceremony

  9. Of the wearing a fig leaf apron in temple ceremonies to symbolize Satan’s power and priesthoods

  10. Of offering prayers to the devil in the temple ceremony – Oh God, hear the words of my mouth – and of praising him in the sacred rites by chanting Hebrew words whose translation is Marvelous Lucifer

  11. That husbands can resurrect their wives from the grave

  12. Of having special grips and clasps in order to tell ghosts from angels and the devil

  13. Of practicing baptism for the dead

  14. Of wearing magic underwear to protect from physical harm – with symbols so sacred that they must be cut out and buried and the garment burned when it wears out

  15. That the Ten Lost Tribes and the apostle John will be discovered living in cement houses in a tropical land adjacent to the North Pole separated by a high mountain range

  16. That men about six feet tall, dressed like Quakers, will be discovered dwelling on the moon where they live for about 1,000 years

  17. That science will prove the earth has knobs on each end

  18. That he was commanded by God to retranslate the Bible because the existing translations contained errors – eventually devising an Inspired Revision completed in 1833 – which was rejected by his church who still uses the King James Version

  19. That his followers are not saved by grace, but instead are burdened by a complex series of rules and regulations which determine their progression as gods of their own planets and the ultimate size and quality of their harem of goddess wives

  20. That he was greater than Jesus

There are many such things hidden by the LDS. Fancy buildings and warm family centric public relations efforts can cover a myriad of sins...

Perhaps the continual posting of threads idolizing Mitt and pushing his candidacy, and the nasty posts by his supporters on them.
