The rudimentary part of the Church was Jewish. The rudimentary faith of the Church was messianic Judaism. But the Gospels were written in Greek, most probably by Greeks, and definitely for Greeks.

I think it is a fair assumption to say that the Greek Church understood her own scripture, in her own language, like no one else.
