There are few atheists on deathbeds.

I've always wondered if the deathbed conversions are people who finally see the light, or they're just trying to cover the bases, just in case.

“I’ve always wondered...”

Me, too, but I guess that info is given out on a “need to know” basis and I suspect the Almighty doesn’t think we have that need.

And no guarantee that it was a beautiful white light...maybe shades of orange, red, black etc...

That would do it.

I've been betrayed by family and even decades later I cannot forgive.

Remember, holding on to resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for your enemy to die from it. Let it go, my friend.

Like W. C. Fields looking for loopholes. (when found reading the Bible before his death.)

I'd rather hand to the next generation a country and world more in-line with the plans of our Founding Fathers than with Gramsci’s, Lukacs, Marcuse, Adorno, Zinn, Chomsky, and all the rest.

Dying has the ability to focus one’s priorities.

I've been betrayed by family and even decades later I cannot forgive. I know it weighs heavy on my heart but I simply cannot take that step especially considering they have never expressed any remorse for their actions.

Luke 17:3 So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.

You're not alone. When the family members that betrayed me repent then I will forgive. Betrayal is especially bad. Notice that Jesus did not forgive Judas.

I’ve also heard that lack of forgiveness is like walking around with a dead fish in your pocket-—it only affects you and those who come in contact with you.

Thanks to all for the replies - very helpful. That family betrayed me is perhaps the most hurtful and is emphasized during holidays being alone on the outside without a "family moment".

The Luke 17:3 verse is somewhat comforting in a weird way although the weight remains heavy.

Again, thanks and a wonderful Thanskgiving to y'all!
