If the Catholic church would start excommunicating the catholics in name only and at the very least refusing to administer sacraments to those who support abortion and vote for those who support abortions, then you would see change.

Changing hearts really doesn't work. We have been trying to change hearts for 40 years and have been losing the fight.

The leadership of the church, in failing to condemn Obama aggressively, was complicit in his election. V’s wife.

Agree that the Church must take stringer stands towards those who call themselves Catholic. They've begun speaking louder, but it's just been too little, too late for too many years. Their and our renewed attempts will change hearts eventually, especially with young Catholics. But it will be difficult, yes.

How galling it was to see a home on my street who for years has had a statue of the Blessed Mother out front. This election cycle there was an Obama yard sign right next to her. That speaks of nothing but ignorance of the faith. That is what the Church needs to change. And the Church cannot do that through legislation. I read somewhere that almost all regular church-attending Catholics voted for McCain. Those who do not attend regularly, or not at all, were Obama voters. Therein is the problem with the Catholic vote, I'd say. How to get them in, or back.
