The miscreant who assaulted her never asked for it, didn't repent of his evil ways, and shows every indication that the behavior will continue.

As I recall some of Christ's last words from the cross were, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."

Note that Christ said "Father forgive them..." not I forgive them.

A subtle yet very important point.

One cannot, in a Christian sense, forgive someone who has not truly repented of their evil and asked for forgiveness.

Anyone doing so is simply enabling evil.

And that is NOT Christian behavior.
