Looks like a fool’s errand to me. The vast bulk of the people whom they’re talking with made their minds up long ago. The politicians will gladhand the Bishops and be ever so nice, but that’s about all that will come of this.
I think the Bishops would be better off talking with their own Parishioners more often and encouraging Catholics to have more children. We aren’t going to win this in the political sphere, but we might win it in the demographic one.
I’m sure the same Bishops will welcome the abortion catholic politicians to receive Communion. Plenty of them will show up for Obama’s inauguration festivities, too.
