Actually, those comments from Catholics are very Christian. For us, there is nothing more vital than being in a state of grace - that means having confessed sins, been granted absolution and serving our penance.

Greeley regularly preaches error and sows the seeds of dissension, which for a priest is a grave sin. May God forgive him for that.

You have written:

I would ask - who are those who have decided that Andrew Greeley preaches error and sows the seeds of dissension. I know of no Church council which as so decided . I know of no bishop who has so declared. He is a priest in good standing, says Mass regularly and is asked to speak to priests and bishops on a regular basis. His research is respected at all levels of the Church, even by those who may disagree with some of his conclusions.

I ask further - who are the self-righteous of such superior wisdom and holiness who accuse this priest of grave sin?

I have said that I know of no Christians who would so act, but apparently there are many who consider themselves super-catholics (I obeyed all the rules so why don’t they ) who are totally lacking in the charity that marks a true Christian. Catholics are supposed to be Christians but often do not act like it. They are CINO - Christians in name only.
