For me a larger question is why do they do it. It can’t in any way profit them. Perhaps they demonize the Blessed Mother to assuage whatever hidden doubts they have over the particular heresy to which they prescribe.

I can only suggest this:

Deprive yourself of the Blessed Sacraments, pridefully—sneer at them even—and then see what happens to your soul.

Sure it does ... it makes them feel better about themselves. They cannot define themselves, except by trashing other folks.

Meantime, protestantism can't seem to figure out the euthanasia is very, very wrong.

Any "faith tradition" that has to "struggle" over the "question" of euthanasia is unGodly in the extreme.

I don't see any "demonizing" of Mary here. No Protestant that I know of has anything but respect for this woman; a truly blessed woman. We believe that Mary herself would object to the prayers/veneration/whatever to her. Catholics obviously disagree. Fine. As for "why we do it", pointing out theological error is a good thing, don't you agree, given the eternal implications? Ascribing motives such as hate and bigotry are not warranted.

Let me ask you, does one violate the commandment "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain" by the improper use of Mary's name?

Most of them do it with the best of intentions. They think we are members of the Whore of Babylon and they genuinely want to save us. I try not to get angry when Protestants and Evangelicals do this sort of thing; we have too many enemies as it is, and gain nothing by fighting among ourselves. Just ignore stuff like this.
