The ‘memory wiping’ appears to be quite flawed and spotty . . . at least not consistently thorough or long lasting for all abductees in all respects.

There seems to be some quality control issues with some of the alien memory wiping technology. You can rely on the ones from Mars, but don't trust anything that comes from Uranus.
