“The McCain campaign is really out to lunch when it comes to reaching young evangelicals,”

Shocking.

The mood was darker on blogs and social networking sites that connect more center-left young evangelicals.

Because we know everyone on the internet is exactly what they say they are.

“What is Creation Care?”

Going beyond the command to be a good steward of the Earth to worshiping the creation rather than the Creator. See also: loony environmentalism.

What is Creation Care?

It is an attempt to try to turn evangelicals into whacko environmentalists.

"Although I think Palin will energize the conservative base, I don't think the Palin pick does anything for progressive evangelicals," said Jones

Considering the word 'progressive' is always associated with big government solutions, this is a good thing.

The term “Emerging Church” should be renamed the “Rotting Church”.

Beg pardon, but the term they prefer is "progressive".

They never get around to telling us what they're progressing toward, though.

That is hardly a "split." Center-left young evangelicals a little more than a splinter.

Tony Jones, another emergent church leader, said it's too early to say that. "It's only been two weeks," he said.

"Although I think Palin will energize the conservative base, I don't think the Palin pick does anything for progressive evangelicals," said Jones, who caucused for Obama.

I don't know anything about Jones or his niche in the so-called "progressive evangelical" movement, but I am very skeptical of anyone who calls himself a Christian of any group or denomination and still supports the ant-Christian, unGodly, liberal social agenda of the Democrat party and it's candidates. Any true Christian who supports a candidate or party whose primary objective is to keep the American holocaust legal will have to answer for their choice when they stand before Jesus Christ.

That will be at the Believer's Judgement (2Cor 5:10) where the works of every Christian's life will be judged and rewards given for good works or withheld because of evil works. No Christian is saved by his of her good works. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin with His own life's blood, and salvation comes by faith in Him alone and not by our righteous works (Gal 2:16).

But our works in our earthly lives, whether good or evil, will be the deciding factor in the rewards that are to be given or withheld at Jesus' Judgment seat. Those Christians whose works are abominable in His sight will be saved "so as by fire" (1Cor 3:15), but they will suffer losses greater than they can possibly imagine now.

And IMHO, voting for or supporting in any way an anti-Christian, pro-abortion, pro-sodomy candidate, such as the Democrats nominate every four years, is an abomination for any Christian that he or she will answer for when they stand before their Lord.

Another reason to hate Relevant Magazine and the heretical, touchy-feely Emerging Church Movement taking over megachurches and contemporary nondenominational congregations.

They are not evangelical at all....wolves in sheeps clothing.

Emerging Church....
translation: well-meaning but deluded FAUX Christians...

OK, maybe I'm just being a little too cruel.
If honesty is being cruel.

Progressive is progressive — just like in a political context. :-(

I don’t think you’re being too cruel. I think you’re too generous. I wouldn’t say they are well-meaning, at least not according to the Biblical definition!

It’s what Emergent types have substituted for, you know, caring for the smallest and most vulnerable of God’s creatures. I’ve tried and tried to have a charitable view of what’s happening in the Emergent world, but everything I’ve read makes it sound like evangelicalism (for which I have a great deal of respect, having been a serious evangelical for a number of years) with a post-modern, “What is truth” gloss. I’d love to be corrected such that I can view it in a more positive light, but I don’t see it happenin’.
