I would later be astounded to read what happened to me in 1st Peter 3:1-2. It states, “Wives, likewise be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the Word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear (reverence for the Lord).”

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED! My wife was saved first, and then through her chaste conduct and her newfound reverence for Jesus Christ, I was won over to the Lord. AMAZING!

Dear Brother in Christ:

That is exactly what happened in my life also. In 1984 I was running around on my wife and had sent her away so that I could continue in my sin.

While she was away, my wife, who had been raised by as a Baptist, and only heard the do nots of the Bible found the real living, breathing Jesus in a Bible believing church.

She then threw herself totally on the arms of Jesus and trusted His Word and came “home” to me.

I tried to break the peace that she had but I couldn't do it. I was raised as a “Christian Scientist” and knew nothing of the Bible or Jesus. But I knew how to hurt and scold and twist any argument around.

My wife had spent her last $50 to buy me a Bible when she came home. Well when I started to read this “book” it was if God was pointing His finger right at me and showing everyone that I was an adulterer and when I came to Psalms 51 God had written me into his book.....OUCH....

So I was convicted of my sin and asked Jesus to forgive me of my sin and to come into my life as LORD.

As with your case I was shown the light of the world by my wife and she did save my life.

Thank GOD for such women....

Reckon it depends on perspective.

Ezekiel 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

And praise God that you were called to witness here FRiend, no doubt meant to edify, or to fall upon the eyes of one who you may never know. That is the way of the Spirit. He put you here to talk to somebody, that is true.

I dearly love my Catholic friends and my Protestant friends however are we all professing to be Christians or followers of Christ and are either knowingly or unknowingly walking in the ways of Pagans?

A study of Church history FACTS from an encyclopedia will tell you that things ain't right. Constantine started the Roman Catholic church and got rid of God's sabbath, the 7th day, and made the Sabbath the day the Pagans worshiped their Sun God, Mithra. That's just for starters. There is so much more and I don't want to be abrasive to anyone but those who are seeking God's truths only, keep searching, all the answers are out there. And there is more...so much more. Unfortunately Gamecock, you journey to Biblical truths has just begun. Don't stop searching.

What a great testimony, GC! Thanks for posting it.

I didn't realize it at the time, but I was slowly starting to fall in love with this "biblical" Jesus. He spoke with compassion to sinners, like myself, and He also had a very simple message. He was telling people that He had come to save sinners, and they needed to repent and believe in Him--otherwise they were going to suffer eternal punishment. I was amazed that the message was so "binary" and straightforward. He didn't leave any room for other choices. It was either Him or not Him. How come I had never seen that message before?

I also saw the Apostles in a new light. I had always been taught that they were "godlike" saints, and had always prayed to marble statues of them as I grew up. But in the New Testament, I saw simple men, bumbling and blundering along as they followed Jesus. They were actually funny, and I would often catch myself yelling at the pages of Scripture, "Hey guys, don't you see what Jesus meant by that---how come you guys don't get it, yet I see what He is saying, so clearly?"

Meanwhile, as I continued reading my Catholic Church history and the New Testament at the same time, I began to grow very uneasy. I didn't "see" certain Catholic teachings in the Bible (i.e., priesthood, worshipping Mary, purgatory, saying the rosary, praying to the saints, etc.) and my uneasiness began to increase..."

That "uneasiness" is the first step toward God's blessing of Scriptural certainty. As this author learned, God's word edifies, clarifies and strengthens, exactly as God intends for it to do.

"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." -- Isaiah 55:11

Well, I guess that slaps the Presbyterians just as hard as it does the Catholics, eh, Gamecock? Care to post any refutation to the charge that the Presbyterian corporate day of worship is a product of the paganization of Christianity ... or is everything okay with you as long as it's couched in a denunciation of Rome?

BTW, a guy who thought that Sunday Mass was "messing up" his Sunday wasn't much of a Catholic.

Absolutely right, Marysecretary. About 15 years ago I was a lukewarm Catholic, like this guy, when I saw on an Internet mailing list a post which said, and I quote:

"The Roman Church sends people to hell."
That made me mad, because, although I knew I wasn't much of a Christian, I also knew who to blame for that: not the church, but the guy I saw in the mirror each morning.

So I started studying. And praying. And learning Scripture. And going to confession.

And that's why I'm a Catholic on fire for the Lord and for His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church today.

So, you're right. You never know who could be impacted ... or how.

That’s right. It can go one way or another. I’m always glad to see Catholics who are zealous for God through His Son, Jesus Christ. We do have things in common and it’s too bad we can’t just stick to basics without all the extra-biblical stuff.

Out of the 1.6 million plus unique visitors to FR/month,

I’m confident there are a number of Vatican folks who will find this testimony right where they are currently . . . and will be thankful for the boost along their road in spiritual growth.

Reads like a very weak whine, to me.

There have been posts hereon of folks finding God via a Vatican sort of experience. I praised God for such.

Finding God by any means is far better than not finding Him.

Drawing closer to God is far better than not drawing close to Him.

Hyper-parochialism is antithetical to authentic Christianity.

There are some wonderful, real Christians stuck in doctrinal darkness. There’s an RC FM station here and I was listening to it one night. I heard a wonderful man teaching on it. I’m sure he’s a Christian and I’ll meet him in Heaven. I’m praying that he’ll be pulled out of the doctrimal darkness in a corrupt organization, with its nonsense about “purgatory.” If such a place was real, wouldn’t our Lord have mentioned it? Slipped His mind?
