Catholic bishops are usually careful, especially when it comes to written statements, more especially when it comes to matters of politics so as to be seen above the fray. They tend to issue general opinions, and to single out Pelosi or anyone is uncommon. Yet the egregiousness of the Speaker’s comments was too much to ignore, and he definitely schooled her on this.
