GMTA!
I'm not going to flame you.
**I don't watch him all the time.**
I watch him enough to know what he preaches.
***I don't see or hear the same thing everyone else on this thread seems to see and hear. He speaks about Jesus more than my Catholic preist does, who spends more time talking about how good MLK, Jr., was.***
Sorry that your priest does that, but you don't have to attend that church.
But take a close listen to Osteen next time he's on. Have your Bible open. When Osteen quotes Scripture is is always part of a verse, never an entire passage. Just take a peek at the most recent Today's Word with Joel Osteen. Notice what he does, first he takes a portion of a verse, and then he finds a translation that provides the exact word that he wants: approved Every decent translation uses the word the word consecrated or sanctified. So what you may ask. Take another look at "Today's Word. Osteen turns it into a passage about you and how you are approved of by God, just because.
Now look at the entire passge
Jeremiah 1:4Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,and before you were born I consecrated you;I appointed you a prophet to the nations." 6Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth." 7But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a youth';for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,and whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD."
The above passage clearly teaches about Jeremiah's calling to be a prophet to call Israel to repentance, not to say God is showering you and I with blessings.
Now, remember the part about being approved of by God, just because? Why are we approved of by God? Because of the life and death of His son, Jesus Christ and our faith in Him.. He bore our sins, in fact he became sin for us. That is not something you will hear Osteen talk about, ever.
Just because someone mentiones God and Jesus doesn't make it a Christian sermon.
Osteen in fact, on the Larry king Show, denied Christ is the only way.
Is that the king of man you want to take spiritual tips from?
