There is NOTHING appealing about Obama for Catholics who take the issues seriously. He is one of the most ethically and theologically confused candidates in recent times. But the estrangement is also cultural and stylistic. Catholic Democrats have seen what happens when radical policies come to their neighborhoods. A candidate perceived as whooping things up is not going to do as well as McCain with his low-key demeanor. But Obama's abortionism will hurt him with the Catholic vote, perhaps enough in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan to tilt the election.
The Dems NEVER get this. They just don't get it. They try to crossdress as believers but still have a culture gap here.
But we have to be careful, we don't want an Obama cleric issuing a fatwa on us ;)
