Now, I’ve already said I’m not getting into that here. I’ve tried to show respect for beliefs that are not my own - as well as for my fellow FReepers.
I don’t believe it was contradicted by Christ, the Apostles, or the Apostle Paul. As for the Church Fathers, I’m pretty sure that mentors of mine (John Wesley et al) would agree with me.
It would seem that, even after reading that I don’t want to show disrespect to my FRiends — you would like to bait me into an argument and I just won’t do that.
Most likely a temporary case of the latter. Regards, C.
Jimmy Akin rocks. LOL
A Religion thread? Marty's on a Religion thread?
No matter. I like the decor in here. And it's nice and peaceful.
Watch out, they take stuff seriously in here... :)
;OD
you hauled those two to the religion forum! LOL!!!
My wit is irre-frickin-sistible.
if they become regs i may drop dead!
Not just your wit either.
God can take care of himself. The only one the Professor is harming through his sacrilege is himself. Pray for his soul and his conversion.
Are we allowed to question this intolerant buffoon's dogmatic pontifications that God is not great and that Jesus is not my lord?
"You are all human beings who must make your way through your life by thinking and learning, and you have the job of advancing humanity's knowledge by winnowing out the errors of past generations and finding deeper understanding of reality. You will not find wisdom in rituals and sacraments and dogma, which build only self-satisfied ignorance, but you can find truth by looking at your world with fresh eyes and a questioning mind."
But the mind, including the mind of this fulminating, moralizing atheist PZ Myers, by his own account, is nothing but the effect of
"...sophisticated molecular regulators and sensors and effectors and modulators that generate patterned impulses in pathways throughout the brain, ....ultimately reducible to highly organized chemistry."
So, where do these secretions and electro/chemical complexes in a couple of pounds of meat inside the skull of PZ Myers come off lecturing the brain chemistry of other bi-pedal carbon units how it should behave? It doesn't make any sense. There is no "good" or "evil" in physical/chemical forces. So where does he get his moral rational yardstick from? How does an atheist like PZ Myers presume that not only is there some sort of absolute standard of moral wisdom by which some beliefs can be evaluated as either inferior or superior to others, but that he can be the spokesman and judge who applies it?
He's a freakn' nutcase.
Amen to "somebody get a net"
Cordially,
Good show. Well written. The logic is clear and the conclusion unavoidable, or so it would seem to the rational mind. The 'fresh-eyed and questioning mind' of the "moralizing atheist" (to use your wonderful phrase), however, is apparently blessed not to be so burdened by such things.
Silly man heaping coals on his own head!
Yes. Myers, and all his hi-fiving hurrah buddies commenting on his blog, is in critical need of our prayers. I must confess, though, to taking a certain extra delight in knowing that our public calls to pray for him only drives him and his kind to mock and loathe us all the more.
On that point, I would refer you to the first chapters of Ann Coulter's brilliant text, Godless.
Darwinian Evolutionary theory has been a far greater problem in inhibiting mankind's progress than the Global Warming stuff. Anyway, you don't have to agree with me - you just have to agree on school choice ;)
Yeah, I knew I mispelt it somehow. And I own one. Thanks for the correction.
According to a post over at Myers blog, the following link is to video proof that the Eucharist was in fact consecrated. It is from a Mass at the Brompton Oratory in London.
Looking over the similar themed videos, and the comments sections reveals a real online cottage industry of venomous in-your-face anti-Catholicism. Not surprising, since He told us this would happen. Still, it's disturbing to see in a supposedly advanced civilized society.
