religious right too...even more so. Read a few threads on the religion forum and tell me it isn't so.
Check the posting history of the worst offenders. You will see they talk about little else. They also have a dedicated caucus of camp followers whom they will call in to dominate any thread which even suggests there may be good in the target of their hatred.
While I personally see organized religion of any kind as mainly another way to divert my hard-earned money to them, I must confess that I have a special affection for both Mormons and Catholics for all the crap which gets thrown at them. I've never been able to comprehend the Taliban Christian animosity to both groups beyond the fact that both groups believe good works are necessary in addition to faith in Jesus Christ. The best I can figure is that they think God grades on a curve and these two groups are breaking or distorting the curve. Otherwise, they'd just shut up and leave them alone or possibly even try to upstage them with good works of their own.
Anti-Catholicism will never "just go away." But it's here with a vengeance for the forseeable future. Some of our own priests haven't exactly helped the cause, lately, but that was just the excuse - the dustgrain, if you will - around which a massive wave of politically correct Anti-Catholicism will coalesce. particularly if the Dems ride an Obama wave toward a congressional super-majority, but the potential scenarios aren't much better if McCain wins. Time to hunker down and ride out the storm!
