I had had the chest pains the day before, and I felt I could safely get to the emergency room riding a bicycle the next day (which is how I got to the hospital).

Uh, dude. Just because you made it doesn't mean it was safe.

I hope we can all recognize this as an example of what NOT to do.

I agree. It was very foolish, but I tried to go at a very slow pace -- even for a bicycle.

But one can use "granny gears" on a bicycle. It makes it more like walking, and is not as stressful.

I tried very hard not to break a sweat and not have an elevated heartrate.

There was a city bus along the route with a bike carrier, but I had the misfortune of missing the bus.

My mother is old, and I did not want anyone in my family to alarm other family members.

I was hoping that God would protect a fool like me.
