Minnesota Professor Pledges to Desecrate Eucharist
Catholic League ^ | 7/10/2008 | n/a

Posted on 07/10/2008 7:28:58 AM PDT by Pyro7480

Paul Zachary Myers, a professor at the University of Minnesota Morris, has pledged to desecrate the Eucharist. He is responding to what happened recently at the University of Central Florida when a student walked out of Mass with the Host, holding it hostage for several days. Myers was angry at the Catholic League for criticizing the student. His post can be accessed from his faculty page on the university’s website.

Here is an excerpt of his July 8 post, “It’s a Frackin’ Cracker!”:

“Can anyone out there score me some consecrated communion wafers?” Myers continued by saying, “if any of you would be willing to do what it takes to get me some, or even one, and mail it to me, I’ll show you sacrilege, gladly, and with much fanfare. I won’t be tempted to hold it hostage (no, not even if I have a choice between returning the Eucharist and watching Bill Donohue kick the pope in the balls, which would apparently be a more humane act than desecrating a go*****ed cracker), but will instead treat it with profound disrespect and heinous cracker abuse, all photographed and presented here on the web.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded as follows:

“The Myers blog can be accessed from the university’s website. The university has a policy statement on this issue which says that the ‘Contents of all electronic pages must be consistent with University of Minnesota policies, local, state and federal laws.’ One of the school’s policies, ‘Code of Conduct,’ says that ‘When dealing with others,’ faculty et al. must be ‘respectful, fair and civil.’ Accordingly, we are contacting the President and the Board of Regents to see what they are going to do about this matter. Because the university is a state institution, we are also contacting the Minnesota legislature.

“It is hard to think of anything more vile than to intentionally desecrate the Body of Christ. We look to those who have oversight responsibility to act quickly and decisively.”

He knows exactly what he is doing. He is doing evil on purpose and with malice aforethought.

God has a very special place in Hell for him and others like him

In addition, this is why we need to reinstate Porters in the Latin Church.

At my parish the Knights of Columbus have taken the responsibility of standing guard/ observing all the communicants. Last week was my first time to do it and I consider it quite an honor.

Too bad so many Catholics refuse to understand this.

And Satan smiles – he’s got another one! Twice in John the betrayal of Christ is linked to Judas not believing the real presence:

“48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the desert and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven: that if any man eat of it, he may not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. 52 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world. 53 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ 54 Then Jesus said to them: ‘Amen, amen, I say unto you: except you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.’…

65 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that did not believe and who he was that would betray him. John 6

21 When Jesus had said these things, he was troubled in spirit; and he testified, and said: ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you shall betray me.’ 22 The disciples therefore looked one upon another, doubting of whom he spoke. 23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. 24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him and said to him: ‘Who is it of whom he speaketh?’ 25 He therefore, leaning on the breast of Jesus, saith to him: Lord, who is it? 26 Jesus answered: ‘He it is to whom I shall reach bread dipped.’ And when he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. 27 And after the morsel, Satan entered into him.” John 13

The betrayal of Christ was now complete. To Judas, this was only bread and wine. Satan entered into the heart of Judas that he conquered with doubt about the word “IS”

Paul later talks about the dangers of not discerning the real presence of Christ’s in the bread:

23 “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread, 24 And giving thanks, broke and said: Take ye and eat: This is my body, which shall be delivered for you. This do for the commemoration of me. 25 In like manner also the chalice, after he had supped, saying: This chalice is the new testament in my blood. This do ye, as often as you shall drink, for the commemoration of me. 26 For as often as you shall eat this bread and drink the chalice, you shall show the death of the Lord, until he come. 27 Therefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread and drink of the chalice. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord. 30 Therefore are there many infirm and weak among you: and many sleep. 31 But if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” 1 Cor 11

Many are weak, infirmed and dead in spirit for not believing.

Indeed, the devil is happy when people deny the real presence in the Eucharist:

If Catholics want to make this large of a deal about this then why not take measures to stop someone from doing it? Like having the priest place the host in the petitioner's mouth?

Thank you. I thoroughly disagree with most of the rest of what you're saying regarding the Eucharist (though Catholic posters are debating with you on that, so I'll let them continue); however, this demonstrates that you understand the "big picture" of the situation better than the overarching majority of Catholics.

Sometimes the old ways are the best ways.

That's an excellent idea, and certainly one to keep in mind to suggest in my own diocese. I'm glad you have the opportunity to assist at Mass in this manner.

"Everybody can continue foaming at the mouth"..." and giving Myers exactly what he wants."

The "foaming at the mout" bit is silly. People here are displeased at this man's offensive behavior, but not caught in the grip of an uncontrollable irrational mania.

"Giving Meyers exactly what he wants"? Most of us want him to be disciplined by his taxpayer-funded University for violating the University's code. Is that, in your view, what Meyers wants?

In that case, I hope they give him a heapin' helpin'.

"..you ACT as though you believe this guy could actually strike some sort of blow against a sovereign God with his crude grandstanding."

No, God in heaven laughs in derision. Or weeps, not in wounded pride, but in sorrow at the tiny, crooked, misshapen thing this man's soul is turning into --- a man who was created for love and joy forever.

Now, that’s a reasonable way to express an opinion. I thank you for it.

Absolutely Tax chick, you are right. I think we all get very angry about being slapped around, but Our Lord spoke about that very thing. We should pray for this man, none who are right with the Lord would wish hell on anybody. It is a terrible place and like Fr. Corapi says this life of ours on earth is like less than one second as compared to eternity.

Still, I don’t think it does us any harm to get righteous with the likes of him, and as a earlier post stated, we need to act as if we really did believe that this is
THE BODY OF OUR LORD JESUS THE CHRIST.

Well, it IS silly when amateurs do it. When I do it, well, I like to think of it as an art form.

If you give someone the host, it becomes their personal property; THEY get to decide what to do with it.

I don't think it's that simple. How is there a conveyance of title?

In the Catholic Church a host is given to a lay person for him to consume or, in extraordinary cases, for him to convey to another person for THAT person to consume. In really rare cases it may be given to be kept in a suitable place for adoration or exhibition.

It would be an interesting case to hear, but I don't think it's a slam dunk.

Well, um, "Mad Dawg"?

Foaming is like my thing, my trade mark.

(Actually, the poor rabid sheep I had was indeed foaming at the mouth. More like frothing.)

I'd not assume that the Host became the unbeliever's "personal propertry." I'd argue that he obtained the host on the basis of falsehood, inasmuch as he pretended to be a believer and a communicant, for the priest or EM wouldn't have given him the host otherwise: and he, and and everybody else, knew that. It is a kind of fraud.

An analogy might be a funeral of a soldier in which the mourners are given some token (a small American flag, a photograph of the soldier) at the gravesite by the soldier's family. If a pretended mourner came and were given these objects, and then proceeded to burn them, smear with filth, or otherwise dishonor them--- saying that he was given the tokens, and the soldier's family had thereby relinquished control--- he should not expect to be held harmless, even legally.
